 | Penygraig Cottage is a 300year old welsh 'long house' situated in the beautiful countryside of the Cothi Valley. The traditional 2-up-2-down living accommodation, with its adjacent granary, milking shed and lambing shed nestles against the hillside overlooking the famous Cothi River. Originally a working farm, the property stood empty for many years until it's new lease of life in 2001.
Now fully renovated using original materials, the property has been lovingly reinstated, with its combination of thick stone walls and modern appliances providing accommodation for the discerning visitor to this area of West Wales. |
The Cottage has a large master bedroom with a generous double bed and plenty of floor space. Bedroom 2 has a double bed with restricted headroom. Both bedrooms and bathroom are accessible from the landing and are equipped with hanging space and chests of drawers, with the master bedroom enjoying enough space to accommodate additional seating.
Downstairs, the large inglenook fireplace with its beautiful log burner provides a wonderful focus for the open plan lounge and dining/kitchen area with free view tv, dvd and free WiFi provided. Complete with free standing beech kitchen units, gas hob, microwave, fridge and washing machine, the kitchen offers all appliances for self catering purposes. A traditional table seats six.
In the lounge area, a comfortable sofa-bed and settee provide ample seating for those evenings in front of the fire with the shadows dancing off the exposed oak beams and lime washed walls. | |
 | The Granary is a stunning mixture of the rustic and contemporary. Accessible by the property's second staircase, the deceptively large master suite offers a 7' bed with a luxuriously finished en suite. Five huge velux-style windows flood the room with light during the day and at night, ceiling lights illuminate the free-standing double bath, complimented by an abundance of chrome, glass and designer sanitary-ware. Within the master suite, a second double bed is located in an adjacent 'snug' with dividing doors between the bedroom areas allowing for privacy. The suite can therefore be used as a perfect family room. Also upstairs, a tastefully furnished twin room provides accommodation for another two persons.
Downstairs, the Granary comes into its own. The kitchen, with its free standing units and generous farmhouse table can seat eight. |
